Zanzibar to Enforce Mandatory Travel Insurance for International Tourists Starting October
New mandatory regulation for all international visitors entering Zanzibar has been introduced by the Government of Zanzibar. The regulation will take effect on October 1, 2024. As per the advisory, all non-residents arriving in the island via sea or air must possess valid inbound Travel Insurance which covers their stay up to 92 days.
This policy aims at ensuring the safety and security of travellers by offering comprehensive coverage for emergencies. The policy rightly reflects Zanzibar’s dedication to reducing potential risks for visitors such as repartition, evacuation and other unforeseen situations.
For complying with this policy, visitors are required to secure their inbound travel insurance through Zanzibar Insurance Corporation. A QR code will be provided upon purchase and travellers must completed the process before their departure for Zanzibar, Non-compliance may result in being denied entry at immigration.
The government has stressed the importance of this measure in safeguarding both visitors and the island’s tourism sector. Foreign travellers are encouraged to make the necessary arrangements in advance to avoid any disruptions during their journey.
