Q1. What is the significance of Taiwan Expo India 2025 in the India–Taiwan trade landscape?
Taiwan Expo India 2025, to be held on September 25–27 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, is a flagship platform to deepen Taiwan–India economic ties. The event comes at a time when India, the world’s fastest-growing major economy, is playing an increasingly vital role in global supply chains and regional development. It also marks the 30th anniversary of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India, a milestone that underscores Taiwan’s long-term commitment and growing engagement with India.

This year’s Expo will highlight Smart Manufacturing, Smart Technology, Wellness Fiesta, and Green Innovations, featuring 107 companies across 186 booths, including leading enterprises such as Foxconn, Delta Electronics, Advantech, and Zyxel Networks. At the same time, recognizing India’s large population and robust domestic consumption market, the Expo also introduces lifestyle and food-related zones to foster closer connections with Indian consumers. Key highlights further include three major pavilions, four dynamic exhibition areas, B2B matchmaking, and Exhibitors Products Launch sessions, inviting Indian enterprises and the public to directly interact with Taiwan’s latest solutions.

Beyond being a showcase, the Expo reflects the deepening partnership between Taiwan and India, bringing together Taiwan’s expertise in innovation, technology, and sustainability with India’s ambitions for industrial modernization, digital transformation, and green growth. It serves as a forward-looking platform for enhanced bilateral cooperation and expanded economic exchanges across multiple sectors.

Q2. How does TAITRA’s legacy support today’s Expo goals?
Founded in 1970, TAITRA is Taiwan’s leading nonprofit trade-promotion body, supported by both government and industry. With a global network of over 60 overseas offices, TAITRA has long been committed to expanding Taiwan’s international business links.

In India, TAITRA established its first office in Mumbai in 1993, followed by Chennai in 2007, Kolkata in 2013, and New Delhi in 2018. These four offices reflect our enduring dedication to the Indian market, helping Taiwanese enterprises engage more deeply with local industries, strengthen supply-chain linkages, and expand bilateral economic and trade exchanges.

Over the years, Taiwan–India exchanges have grown steadily stronger, spanning electronics, ICT, smart manufacturing, green energy, and food industries. The Taiwan Expo Series, launched in 2017, has already brought together over 5,000 exhibitors and 750,000 visitors, generating more than USD 2 billion in business opportunities with satisfaction rates exceeding 90%.

This strong foundation demonstrates how TAITRA’s legacy and long-term presence in India directly support the goals of Taiwan Expo India 2025—to further enhance bilateral cooperation and create future-oriented opportunities across sectors.

Q3. What is the official theme and key highlight of Taiwan Expo 2025?

Taiwan Expo in India 2025, themed around Taiwan–India industrial cooperation, focuses on four key areas: Smart Manufacturing, Smart Technology, Wellness Fiesta, and Green Innovations. The Expo brings together 107 companies across 186 booths, covering three specialized pavilions and four exhibition areas, along with business matchmaking sessions to deepen bilateral collaboration.

Taiwan Smart Manufacturing Pavilion
Under the theme “Taiwan for Make in India: Realize Your Smart Factory,” this pavilion features leading Taiwanese companies in automation, textiles, and footwear. It highlights sustainable, high-efficiency solutions that support India’s manufacturing transformation.
Taiwan Excellence Pavilion
This pavilion gathers 22 award-winning Taiwanese enterprises, each recognized with the Taiwan Excellence Award. The showcase covers smart living, healthcare, manufacturing, and smart city innovations, reflecting Taiwan’s strengths in quality and creativity.
Taiwan Select Foods Pavilion
Featuring 37 companies and over 100 food products, this pavilion presents Taiwanese cuisine with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. Many products are internationally certified (HACCP, iTQi, Clean Label) or award-winning, showcasing Taiwan’s flavors as both wholesome and globally appealing.

In addition, this year’s Expo will also feature many of Taiwan’s most important enterprises, such as Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), Delta Electronics India, Taisys Technologies, Advantech, IBASE Technology, Proscend Communications, and Zyxel Networks, presenting a wide range of solutions across multiple industries.

Through these highlights, the Expo not only demonstrates Taiwan’s industrial advantages, technological expertise, and cultural richness but also aims to foster future-oriented cooperation with India, strengthening the industrial capacities of both nations.

Q4. How will the Expo boost bilateral trade and industry collaboration?

The Expo will serve as a dynamic platform to strengthen Taiwan–India ties through B2B matchmaking, sector-focused symposiums, and cultural exchanges. These activities enable Indian buyers and partners to directly engage with Taiwanese innovations across the pillars of Economic & Trade Cooperation, Talent Development, Resource Sharing, and Regional Connectivity.

This year, a large number of Taiwanese enterprises will be physically present in India. We warmly invite leaders and professionals from across industries to join, interact, and explore opportunities with them. In addition, the Expo will feature three themed Exhibitors Products Launch sessions: Innovation for a Smarter & Safer World, Smart Connectivity • Smart Industry, and Smart Living • Healthy Future. These sessions are open for Indian enterprises and the public to join, offering a chance for direct interaction and firsthand experience with Taiwan’s latest solutions.

Q5. What recent market and trade developments underline the Expo’s importance?

India, as the world’s fastest-growing major economy, is playing an increasingly vital role in global supply chains. Taiwan, with its expertise in electronics, smart manufacturing, green technologies, and healthcare solutions, is well positioned to be a reliable partner in this transformation.

Our cooperation is reflected in solid numbers. In 2024, Taiwan–India bilateral trade exceeded USD 10.6 billion, a record high and more than 50% growth since 2018. At the same time, the number of Taiwanese businesses operating in India has tripled since 2017, now reaching 250 companies, a clear sign of deepening industrial linkages.

This momentum is also seen in landmark developments such as the HCL–Foxconn joint venture for a semiconductor unit in India, which underscores the growing depth of our technological partnership. With Indian demand for smart manufacturing on the rise, Taiwan Expo India 2025 comes at a pivotal moment to further expand sectoral collaboration and create new opportunities for both sides.

Q6. What strategic message does TAITRA aim to send with Taiwan Expo India 2025?

Taiwan Expo in India aims to emphasize the future of Taiwan–India collaboration. By aligning with India’s Make in India, Digital India, and green strategies, the Expo highlights Taiwan’s strengths in innovation and smart solutions while underscoring our commitment to building long-term partnerships. Our message is that Taiwan and India can grow together through deeper cooperation, knowledge sharing, and sustainable development.
