Saudia Comes First in On-time Performance Ranking
Saudia, Saudi Arabia's national flag carrier, has been declared the global leader in punctuality for the month of June 2024 by Cirium. During the month, Saudia flew 16,133 through its extensive network of destinations numbering more than 100 across four continents, with an on-time arrival rate of 88.22 percent and an on-time departure rate of 88.73 percent. This is remarkable because June is a peak travel month, including the Hajj pilgrimage and part of the summer vacation season.
His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, pointed out that this success reflects the airline’s strategic goals with respect to operational efficiency and raising operational quality. He attributes this to constant improvements in flight scheduling and the adoption of advanced digital solutions and systems for operation management. Al-Omar further extended his appreciation to all Saudia staff for their serious efforts in maintaining operational excellence at the airline, referring to challenges overcome at different stations and airports under varying weather conditions, high temperatures, technical problems, and other airport-related factors by its staff.
Since 2021, Saudia has maintained its position in the top ten of the world’s airlines for on-time performance—an aspect that speaks volumes about its quality and airmanship. From the viewpoint of operations, it is controlled by the largest integrated operation control centre in the Middle East, with a comprehensive system that includes all sectors and group companies. This centre is fully equipped with the latest aircraft communication technologies. Monitoring of all aircraft take-off and landing procedures at domestic and international stations is done on a real-time basis for smooth operations.
