New Direct Flights to Jeddah by Akasa Air

Akasa Air announced that it would start new non-stop flights to Jeddah. According to reports, the first flight left Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai at 19:35 IST on July 15, 2024, and landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah at 22:25 AST. It will operate this direct service daily from July 21, 2024, adding two more weekly flights between the cities to make it 12. It will be matched by the other way round with a Jeddah to Ahmedabad direct flight, two-times-a-week, from July 21, 2024.

With induction of services to Jeddah and starting operations in Riyadh from June 2024, it will further consolidate Akasa Air’s presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a broader range of choices at attractive fares. Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder Praveen Iyer, elated with the expansion, stated that the early response to the Mumbai-Riyadh route was very positive and reverberating because it increased the already-existing connectivity between India and Saudi Arabia, thereby strengthening trade, pilgrimages, and tourism.

According to Belson Coutinho, co-founder, chief marketing, and experience officer, this new Jeddah route will be very significant in Akasa Air’s global expansion plans. Onboard customers will get a glimpse of fine hospitality at Akasa Air, as well as cafe delights from Cafe Akasa, spacious cabins, and in-seat USB charging points. Other unique experiences include Skyscore—in-flight sports scores—and QuietFlights for undisturbed journeys. Adding to this is the Akasa Holidays platform, where customers can create customizable holiday packages for an all-inclusive hassle-free travel experience.

Since the international launch in March 2024, Akasa Air has grown phenomenally and is flying to Doha, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Jeddah; it has traffic rights to Kuwait and Medina. Akasa Air boasts warmth and comfort on board with ample leg room, USB sockets, and a wide choice of meal menu items for the first time in several industry segments, such as Kombucha. Akasa Air also takes care of visually impaired customers by providing Braille safety cards and menu cards.
