Japan Launches E-Visa System for 90-Day Visits
Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instituted a new electronic tourism visa system. According to these visa policies, the ministry offers a single-entry visa, valid for visits of up to 90 days for specific nationalities. These countries include Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
This can be applied online using Japan’s e-Visa system. However, applicants should note that this system is only open to those entering the country by air and possessing an ordinary passport.
Applicants may be asked to have an interview by a Japanese overseas diplomatic establishment with jurisdiction over their residence.
Connected to this, the e-Visas are going to be valid either for 15 or 30 days for Chinese nationals who are residents in China, and for Vietnamese nationals who stay in Vietnam, they can have e-Visas issued for a visit of up to 15 days.
A “visa issuance notice” will be required to be presented online at the airport by travellers who have managed to obtain an electronic visa.
