Indian Visa Centres in Bangladesh Shut Amidst Political Unrest; Missions Continue Operations

All Indian visa application centres (VACs) in Bangladesh will remain closed until further notice.

The message put out by the online portal to apply for Indian visa says, “All IVACs will remain closed till further notice, due to the unstable situation. Next application date will be informed through SMS and it is requested to pick up the passport on the next working day.”

Recent unrest in Bangladesh forced Sheikh Hasina to demit office as Prime Minister and flee the country.

It has been a day since New Delhi withdrew all non-essential personnel and their families from its High Commission and consulates in Bangladesh. Indian diplomats, however, are still there and the missions continue to function, according to the reports. Apart from a high commission in Dhaka, India also has consulates in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet.
