IHG to Expand Its Presence in Spain with Four New Hotels
IHG Hotels and Resorts- one of the most prestigious hospitality chains of Britain is set to grow its presence across Spain by opening four new hotels adding 500 rooms across key tourist and business destinations. This will strengthen IHG’s presence in the European growth markets.
The latest agreements include the following properties from IHG’s brands: Hotel Indigo, Voco Hotels, and Holiday Inn Express. Willemijn Geels, the vice president of European development at IHG, commented on the expansion, counselling that the properties will aid the company in boosting its inventory across Iberia by 10%. Geels emphasized once more that they retain huge interest from owners and investors in the diversified portfolio of brands at IHG, offering guests varied experiences and bespoke service support.
According to the release, next to the strong footprint of the Holiday Inn brand family in Spain, IHG has also recorded critical growth in its luxury and lifestyle collection with recent key openings such as Six Senses Ibiza and Kimpton Vividora Barcelona. Joining these, a few exciting new properties will join IHG’s Spanish portfolio in the coming years.
The fifth Hotel Indigo in Spain will be the Hotel Indigo in Jerez de la Frontera, due to open in spring 2026. Partnered with Senator Hotels and Resorts, this unique hotel will combine two historic buildings in the city centre and offer 82 rooms. In addition, there is the Voco Granada, which will see IHG’s first representation in Granada. Also opening in spring 2026 and in partnership with Senator, the 167-room property will be located close to the old centre of Seville, near transport links and the congress and exhibition centre.
The Holiday Inn Express Seville is a 148-room converted hotel and the third property signed with Senator Hotels. It will come with signature amenities, including the Express Start Breakfast, a fit area, a rooftop terrace, and a swimming pool to help guests looking for simple and smart travel experiences. The opening date will be spring 2026. This remains in Spain, and Holiday Inn Express and Suites Sabadell plans to join the portfolio late in 2025. It will become IHG’s first “& suites” offering in Spain. This 130-room hotel, comprising 20 long-stay suites, focuses on mid-to long-term guests and families.
IHG has some 55 hotels operating under eight brands in Spain, showing a huge commitment to the region while continuing that growth in the Spanish market.
