1.8 Million Indians to Visit US This Year

More than 1.8 million people from India would visit the United States this year, US Consulate General Melinda Pavek said today. She was speaking during the inauguration of the relocated Visa Application Centre. Referring to the relationship between the two countries, she said it resonated with priority to people-to-people ties.

Pavek underlined that there were immense opportunities for bilateral cooperation in strategic and new sectors, recognised by both countries, in technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and space. She also mentioned that both parties could work out these collaborations only if there are efficient and transparent visa processes and facilities so that Indians and Americans can sit down to discuss new ventures and partnerships.

According to Jeffrey Miles, Visas Coordinator for the US Mission in India, in 2023, more than 1.4 million US visas were issued by the US Embassy and Consulates in India—over 700,000 visitor visas. That is an indication of immense interest in travel and cultural exchange between the two countries.
