Jan-May 2024 Sees a 34% Increase in the Number of Arrivals from India to Türkiye
The number of visitors from India to Türkiye has reached 126000 within the first five months of 2024. This makes an increase of 34% over the same period of time in 2023, as mentioned by TTB- Türkie Tourism Board.
This impressive growth follows up to a total of 274000 Indian Tourists that visited Türkiye for the whole 2023 year. The interest of Indian tourists in visiting Türkiye is due to the continuous strategic efforts of Türkiye. The tourists showed interest in the country’s diversified tourism products, such as visiting Türkiye as Free Independent Travellers (FITs) to enjoy the rich cultural heritage, shopping, and culinary experiences at their own pace.
Indian Nationals have risen out of all Turkish States and cities, which is a fact. One city of Türkiye with a rich culture and history is Istanbul. People love it for its exciting food, the alluring landscapes and hot air balloons of Cappadocia. One gets to see beautiful coastlines and the staging of weddings and celebrations in Antalya and Bodrum.
According to TTB, substantial numbers could be generated via aggressive marketing and PR initiatives in India and successful partnerships with Indian stakeholders, including travel agents, corporates, and wedding planners. Earlier this year, the Indian market remained a focus for Türkiye Tourism. Stopping at six cities across the country, the well-received Turkey Roadshow 2019 did the same in collaboration with the Travel Agents Association of India. The motive of the event was to cultivate a closer relationship between the Indian travel trade and Turkish tourism to a new level of working together that explores new opportunities.
The Türkiye Tourism Board continues to work very closely with Indian travel agents. Such familiarization tours, for instance, concluded with tour operators of the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India, are seeing great successes. The event took place from 30 June to 6 July and is aimed at drawing the attention of Indian travel agents to the wide gamut of attractions in Türkiye. 40 members of OTOAI from all over India, representing various tourism interests, participated in the trip
An increased number of people from India to Türkiye has shown that this place has some pulling power with promotional activities in the market. As Türkiye builds from an already pretty sound base, more travellers from India can now be expected in the coming months.
