IATO’s Upcoming Annual Convention Curtain Raiser Event
A curtain raiser event was hosted on the 23rd of July, 2024 at The Lalit New Delhi for the upcoming 39th IATO Annual Convention scheduled from August 30 to September 2, 2024. The entire IATO leadership joined, including IATO's President, Rajiv Mehra.
The noted delegates from the host State, Madhya Pradesh included- Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary; Dr. Ilayaraja, Managing Director of MPTDC; and Bidisha Mukherjee, Additional Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. They were warmly welcomed by Rajiv Mehra.
More than 100 IATO members and travel media representatives attended the event, where the Convention’s theme – “Resurgent India Inbound” — was launched for the first time.
Sanjay Razdan, Honorary Secretary of IATO, warmly welcomed all the participants and updated them on the association’s activities. According to Rajiv Mehra, “We are expecting a gathering of 1,000 delegates from all over the country comprising senior officials of the Ministry of Tourism, State Governments, Leaders and top officials from the Industry, Professionals from the Tourism and Hospitality Industry, and Travel Trade Media.”
According to Ravi Gosain, 300 registrations have been completed, and the 10 post-convention FAM tours have been fully booked across different sectors to project the State. Mahendra Pratap Singh pointed out the potential of Madhya Pradesh as a travel destination. He added that the State has to be explored more and sold to markets, especially foreign tourists. This will allow the IATO members to get firsthand exposure to the state’s diversified and rich tourism products.
Finally, the evening ended with a vote of thanks by Sunil Mishra, the Honorary Treasurer of IATO, who hoped that the participating members would make the Convention a success.
