Dream Your Next Destination With the Tarot

“We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.”

The World changed in 2020, and travel took a hit. However, with the coming of the vaccine, the hope is that the world will slowly pick up pace and travel will resume. Whilst we wait for some restrictions to relax we definitely have the Tarot to help us dream!! The Tarot is such a rich spiritual tool that using it for predictive readings is like using an advanced Artificial Intelligence system to do kindergarten math!!

So how then may we use the Tarot to dream? The Tarot is an excellent device to dive into the culture of another civilization or people. The Ancient Egyptian Tarot is rich in its symbolism from the amazing tomb paintings and the tapestry of stories from the mythology of Egypt. If you find Egyptian Afterlife interesting, why not delve into the Ancient Egyptian based Tarot and have a background of research before you can travel again.

If Greek and Roman Mythology call to you more, then I recommend looking up the Mythic Tarot or the Tarot Apokalypsis which showcase stories from Roman, Eastern, Norse and Chinese Mythologies.

If the arts are more your scene, and you cannot wait to go stand in the hallowed embrace of the Sistine Chapel and see the glorious artworks of the great Renaissance Masters, may I suggest venturing into a Tarot Store and getting your hands on decks inspired by artworks of the past?

The Botticelli Tarot uses the imagery from the works by Sandro Botticelli and it was a lovely holiday project for me and my children to see which paintings were used to illustrate the cards. The Pre-Raphaelite Tarot, The Golden Tarot of the Renaissance are all period paintings tied in to form a deck, and communicate a story within the framework of another Narrative. If Modern Art is more appealing to you, there are many minimalistic decks available. I was very pleased to be introduced to the works of Mucha (1860-1939), via the Tarot, and he is the Art Nouveau Style.

If you are allured by the sand dunes and magical stories of the Middle East may I suggest the Tarot of 1001 Arabian Nights!! Oh, the list is as vast as the world, covering cultures, folk and faerie tales, wilderness, deep-sea; literary and fictional figures and even mythic beasts.

One does not need to be intuitive to study the tarot. We are all born with sixth-sense and over time the use of the Tarot, builds our perception much in the manner in which the gym builds our muscles. The Tarot can be for now the diving board to dreams of far away places that hold special significance for you.

In time, when you look through your cards, you will realise that they are connected to the collective unconscious and have so much to offer to you. All you need is, a deck that calls to you, and there are plenty to search through. They all come with a little book and that is usually self informative. There you can begin and dive off, into the greatest adventure of your soul. And in time when the world resumes, you are ready to travel to those destinations that have whispered their secrets via the cards to your soul!
