Central Financial Assistance and National Strategy Drive India’s Green Tourism
Central Financial Assistance (CFA) has been allocated to various State Governments and Union Territory Administrations to support the development of tourism infrastructure, focusing on ecotourism destinations. This initiative is part of a broader scheme overseen by the Ministry of Tourism to enhance the tourism landscape across India. The details were provided by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in a written response to questions in the Lok Sabha.
Apart from the financial support, the Ministry of Tourism promotes ecotourism all around the country. It does this through updates on the Ministry’s website and social media campaigns targeted towards that. In other words, promotional activities are meant to sensitize, bring awareness, and create interest in ecotourism destinations.
The Ministry has prepared a National Strategy for the Development of Ecotourism for its further enhancement. This national strategy will use an integrated approach to developing ecotourism in India, making this sector viable, vibrant, and self-sustaining.
